Hunter posted a piece this morning about more republicans in red states dying from COVID-19. Read it here: m.dailykos.com/…
A couple of hours later, I found this report in my news feed and decided to do a bit more research on the COVID gender factor:
Researchers at Colorado State University learned that men more frequently spread the coronavirus particles than women or children.
This research shows the majority who are a “hard no” on getting vaccinated are white:
Only 14% of Americans say they will definitely not get vaccinated. But this group is 69% white, compared with 7% Black and 12% Hispanic. Republicans make up 58% of this group, while Democrats account for 18%.

How do the vaccinated break down by gender? According to 538 in a June article:
...the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that nearly 9.5 million more women than men have been vaccinated in the U.S., 1 and in the 42 states 2 that collect gender data, a greater share of women are getting the vaccine as well. The magnitude of the gender gap varies from state to state but has hovered just below 10 percentage points on average over the past month.

Education level is another factor:
Disparities by education level remained, with adults holding a bachelor’s degree or higher continuing to have the highest vaccination rate at 90.8%, and adults without a high school diploma having the lowest vaccination rate at 68.6%. www.shadac.org/...
(and)
Older Americans, Democrats and more well-educated adults are less likely to oppose getting vaccinated.

And in our two favorite states under the thumb of insane republican governors:
In Florida, an article published in April:
Statewide as of Wednesday, women made up about 57% of fully vaccinated people, according to the Florida Department of Health. Men added up to about 43%.
In fact, in 66 of Florida's 67 counties, women are outpacing men when it comes to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine; the exception is Glades County in south central Florida. www.tallahassee.com/...
The COVID Death Gender Gap:
At least 65,000 more men than women have died from COVID in the US
...Men have had a higher crude death rate than women, as the chart using CDC data from February 2020 to August 2021 shows. By the end of August, over 65,000 more men than women had died from COVID-19 (362,187 male deaths and 296,567 female deaths). www.brookings.edu/...
I take no joy in these numbers and find it a tragedy. However, as Hunter said in his piece linked at the top, by politicizing COVID and the vaccination that can save lives, it seems republicans are killing off their own base: white, low information, republican men.
