Tabitha Lehman has served as a public servant under multiple administrators. In that role, she always believed the first rule was simple: serve the public. She may have had her own political views — which sometimes put her at odds with Democratic efforts for expansion, but everyone respected her work on behalf of the residents of Sedgwick county.
Well, that is until Secretary of State Scott Schwab decided now was she needed to be fired. Why? Because in battling aggressive cancer she was forced to work at home using the county VPN, as her body could not risk contracting COVID. That answer wasn’t good enough, and now, her job is gone.
Despite statements from their IT department, despite higher security, despite her aggressive cancer and no help for election workers who were told they could not require people to wear masks, she’ll find herself out of a job.
Compassionate Republicanism has limits.
