Does anyone or everyone in Florida know about the story of the State House 14th district? The Primary is Tuesday, August 28th, 2018. BUT for this district, the primary IS the General.
Two African American women are running, both as Democrats. Paula Wright and Kimberly Daniels. Though the local Dem Party won’t speak up, let me tell you, one of these Dems is not like the other.
No Republican is running against the incumbent, Kimberly Daniels, because, well, they don’t need to, she’s as Republican as it gets. She’s pro NRA, pro big business, anti LGBTQ, anti women’s rights and anti labor.
She is a pastor of some sort and owns a charter school. Needless to say, she supports charter schools. She once thanked God for slavery, because otherwise “she’d still be in Africa worshipping a tree.” (She said this, not me!)
Daniels got a bill passed in the Florida House that says all schools have to display the motto “In God We Trust” in a prominent place. (isn’t that special?)
Currently, I think she is under some kind of ethics investigation, which I find quite ironic since she serves on the ethics committee.
She has an opponent in Paula Wright who stands with the Democratic Party on everything they believe in and fight so hard for. She is the true Democrat in this race. She’s been endorsed by:
AFSME Florida, AFL-CIO Florida, Planned Parenthood Florida, Duval Teachers Union, FEA, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I love these guys!) and other groups as well.
Wright is a bit of a super star, serving her second term as Chair of the Duval County School Board. (A very big electoral county!)
There is really nothing not to like about Paula Wright and everything to love. This isn’t really my story to tell though, it’s for someone from Florida.
I’m putting this out there in the hopes that a Kossack from Florida (or several Kossack's) will pick this up and run with it. Get something out on line every day until next Tuesday, because, for this race, in this district, the main event, the big election, is Tuesday, August 28th! Don’t wait!
