After the Democratic sweep of the Virginia House several months ago, the Virginia legislature finally voted to expand Medicaid, providing health care to 400,000 low income, working Virginians. Isn’t it time Florida do the same? Isn’t it time to vote out the House Republicans who refused to expand Medicaid, and vote against those they endorse? Isn’t it time to bring in Democrats who will provide 800,000 low wage Floridians health coverage, create tens of thousands of jobs, and provide employers healthier and more productive employees? Every dollar invested in preventative care and wellness programs return $3 in lower long-term healthcare costs and results in higher employee productivity. As part of Obamacare, Florida was entitled to $55 billion towards Medicaid Expansion. Refusing to endorse any part of that law, on purely a partisan basis, Florida House Republicans voted against accepting billions of Federal dollars, depriving hundreds of thousands of Floridian's healthcare, sentencing thousands to death or major illness. This was shameful! Come November, Florida can follow in Virginia’s footsteps. Vote for Democrats. Vote for healthcare. Isn’t it time to do the right thing?
