This is some of the stuff we brought upstairs over a week ago to keep it dry. We never use it and haven’t for years. Son 3.0, “When did I get a sleeping bag?”
So, I’m not taking it back down to only have to bring it back up again for the next storm. I’m using the Next Door app in my neighborhood to give it away. I wish I could do so much more.
My neighbor is helping his flooded brother and could only make a call to someone when I asked if could talk this guy through fixing his flooded motorcycle. He called, Jose tried the advice, it worked, he’s mobile again. My neighbor said, “I wish I could do so much more.”
I took three new Google Chromebooks to a shelter yesterday so three more people at a time could apply for FEMA aid or reach out to loved ones. It seemed like nothing, I wish I could do so much more.
One of my uber campaign volunteers has been helping me run recovery efforts on my Facebook page. For hours. And hours. Every day since the rain started. She’s taking a break today to go help muck out houses because, “I need to do more.” Even though she has helped literally thousands on my page including directing rescuers to people in danger and what seems like a million diapers to shelters.
So when you ask how we are, that’s it. We spend all day wishing we could do more.
