I haven’t written many diaries since the format changed so I hope this comes out right.
It was a disorganized mess, but we got the job done. They put two precincts in the same room so we ended up with almost 400 people. Everyone was patient for the first hour but after that things got testy. When one of the chairs finally said something about people from each campaign giving a short final message, some guy a couple rows back yelled, “Mr. Chairman, I move we dispense with the speeches and get on with the voting.” There were several dozen seconds to the motion. We were off and running!
They had the candidate areas spread around the perimeter of the room so it was easy to find your preferred one. I think everyone ended up viable except Amy and Tom Steyer. Tulsi wasn’t even represented that I could see. I bugged out before they elected delegates, etc. I hurt all over and my ride wanted to go.
A little aside here: I got a ride to the site but my friend had to go to a different site. I was sure I’d find someone I knew to take me home. The only person I saw happened to be the nun that taught me Elementary Music Methods in college. Now, I’m 70 so she’s got to be in her 80s, at least, and still going strong. Must be all that clean living. 😉
