Well it’s official — Donald Trump has declared war on our planet’s future, and shown that he has no interest in being a leader. By withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, we’re not only signalling that we no longer care about climate change, but we’re essentially fleeing the international stage to the benefit of nations like China and Russia.
What’s worse, several high level Republican politicians have heralded the decision as a good thing; trying to cover up for the fact that this is a complete act of cowardice:
So at this point, you’re asking yourself: what can we do about this?
California Governor Jerry Brown is already fighting back. California will begin reaching out to other states to hold a climate summit in hopes of upholding the provisions of the Paris Agreement on the state level. We can do that in every state; step up and show the kind of leadership that our White House is now lacking.
The thing is, we need to elect Democrats into state houses and governor’s mansions all across the country, including right here in Virginia. This year we have the Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General and all 100 House of Delegate seats up for grabs.
I'm running for one of those seats, and you better believe I'll be a champion of Climate Justice.
We only have 34 House seats, but with your help, we can take it back and start to fight back against the cowardice of the Republicans. We need as many folks to get out to vote this year as possible, starting with the June 13th Primary. The more voters we have for that, the more we’ll have in the General Election. The more we have in the General Election, the more who will vote in our congressional races next year.
The momentum to take our democracy back starts now.
Below is a full list of the House of Delegate Districts with contested Democratic Primaries. Look them up online to see their positions, issues and background; pick the one who speaks to you most, adopt them, and chip in! Quite a few of us have phone banks which can be done from anywhere in the country, and all of us can use donations for our war chests.
Every dollar that comes in now goes directly out to the kind of voter outreach we’ll need to win not only in June, but in November too. You can make a difference, Kos; you just have to step up and help us out!
(note: Candidates with an asterisk next to their name are Democratic incumbents for that particular seat.)

Really fighting back starts with registering folks to vote and getting them into the process. The Republicans have done a real number on us over the years with partisan gerrymandering voter suppression; the only way to counter it is to get more voters onto the rolls and build from the grassroots.
Take a look at 90 for 90.org to see how we’re doing just that right here in Virginia.
