What an exciting day in the Georgia 6th Congressional District. Today we knocked on 50 doors just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Despite the heat and humidity, there were hundreds of volunteers from around America waiting to get packets to canvass-and this was just one staging location. Jon Ossoff’s campaign efforts have united neighbors from all over the country to come down and help him out, myself included. There are still more doors to be knocked and we need to make sure we get out every vote possible and we will be back tomorrow morning to keep doing everything we can.
Even if Jon doesn’t prevail tomorrow (which we know he will), I think the message is clear. We know moral victories are not real victories but we really have already won. I know that first hand from our own 2016 NC 9th race against Robert Pittenger. This is a race that should not be competitive. It should not be getting outside attention, or attracting thousands from around the country to drop what they are doing and come help, and it most certainly should not be the most expensive house race in US history. Yet, it is all of those things. And more. We put our own campaign efforts on hold for five days to come down here and make sure we get the first of the 24 seats we need to flip the house. We talked to a small family today and as the father was putting his son in their minivan, we helped them plan to vote early tomorrow morning when the polls open. It is raining here now, yet people are still at the office wanting to do anything they can. The end of this race is within reach, but it isn’t over yet- We will be again out tomorrow making sure people have voted and get rides to the polls. We need to always make sure we help all democrats get elected, whether it is a high profile, multi million-dollar election or a race for local school board. Republicans must always be challenged and when we get back to NC, we will carry this sentiment with us to make sure every single race is competitive and every single democratic candidate is supported. We deserve this and our family deserves this type of effort. I never want to wake up again and feel like I did on November 09, 2016. We have too much at stake and we have a moral obligation to our family, friends, and neighbors.
