As we now turn (back) to the rushed and unnecessary healthcare debate, we hope that Congress will try to work together for what is best for our country over their political rhetoric and their appeals to their most repugnant nature.
Our neighbors deserve and expect our Congressman and public servant to represent what is best for our neighborhoods and our families in our eight county 9th Congressional District. We have over 57,000 of our neighbors just in our district alone impacted by the ACA. It would be political malpractice for Robert Pittenger to not support fixing our ACA instead of his current failed repeal/replace strategy, which is not what the America people want or deserve in the first place.
This leads me to the point of this posting- yet another deplorable comment made by Robert Pittenger this morning. His comments are by no means representative of where our district stands or where anyone in our state or country stands. We are simply stunned that a sitting member of the US House of Representatives could say something so ridiculous and disconnected.
For our 9th Congressional District Congressman to tell neighbors in South Mecklenburg, Union, Anson, Richmond, Scotland, Robeson, Bladen and Cumberland counties that if they have pre-existing conditions and live in North Carolina they can “go to the state that they want to live in,” is shameful and irresponsible.
This just adds to the collection of racist, bigoted, or otherwise crazy remarks that we have had to endure during Robert Pittenger’s time in Congress and we condemn his words and the ignorance that they represent.
I know we need to go back to actually listening to our constituents and their concerns-not still trying to go after Obama era legislation. I am running on protecting and improving our healthcare, including moving towards a Medicare for all path. I will continue to fight here in North Carolina to eventually kick Pitt out in 2018 and bring a reality based platform to the US House. I want to help fight people like Pittenger, and I need help to do so. I want to continue to spread my message of promoting rights, like healthcare, for everyone.
We encourage everyone to contact Robert Pittenger's offices at 202-225-1976, 704-362-1060, 910-303-0669, 704-917-9473 and demand he protect our healthcare
