It's gonna be a tough winter for this little
Serbian Jersyian.
No job, unemployable, bills mounting, and his request for a government bailout was just denied.
The Port Authority dealt a blow to David Wildstein's criminal defense today, denying his request for legal indemnification for his actions in the closing of the George Washington Bridge. The gall, he gets caught screwing the taxpayer, and then he asks the taxpayer to pick up his tab. Now he has to pay for his legal fees out of his pocket. The longer this goes on the deeper his financial hole.
Long time criminal defense attorney Brian Wice, who also represents convicted felon Tom Delay, appeared on MSNBC today and advised David Wildstein to cut a deal and turn states evidence. He said the incentive is simple: with Bill Baroni, Bridget Kelly, and Wildstein all facing jail time, and with the meter running on the legal fees, the first person to cut a deal with the US Attorney will get the lightest sentence.
It's a game of musical chairs.
The longer Wildstein waits to give everyone up, the greater the chance one of his co-conspirators will crack and grab the only Get-out-Jail-Free card in the deck and leave Wildstein holding the bag.
