Hello all, and happy Thursday! I got thinking about safe spaces recently — what they are, how do we create them... I am writing this from inside my very own portable safe space, Wheeliehouse :-) Which needs many more pictures taken of it yet, but here are the kitties lounging on the bed:
Bed and fuzzy blankets, ah!! Always Safe Space #1, for both me and the cats. And they must find Wheeliehouse both safe and comfy — six months now, and neither of them have even tried to get out :-)
Welcome to PWB Theme Thursdays! If you’ve never visited or commented in a PWB (Pootie/Woozle/Birdie) diary before, come on in — the water is fine, and the folks are always friendly! A few quick guidelines:
- No trolling the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.
- Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.
- When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help. So ask!
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- There is no such thing as stealing a photo around here, but if you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.
People might cop an attitude when someone talks about their “furbabies”, but one thing is decidedly true: for pets, just as for children, it is our job to make safe spaces for them:
Sometime mommy is the safe space!
Then, as we get older, we start finding and creating our own safe spaces:
Of course, as the above meme points out, one of the things that makes a safe space a safe space is being able to control who enters it:
Other times, what really make a space feel safe is what’s outside:
And last but not least, there is nothing like the safe space created by sharing it with your best friend!
Happy Thursday, Peeps! It’s another surgery day for me, so I will be here eventually.
What’s your beastie’s favorite safe space?
