A woman, Karen Garner, with speech loss and mild dementia is brutally attacked by the police, not a police officer, but by the police. Her fragile elderly bones were crushed and snapped. She looks and acts like my Mom.
A man, George Floyd, trying to hustle through the day, is brutally attacked by the police, not a police officer, but by the police. His neck was crushed until he couldn’t breathe and died. He looks and acts like an old boyfriend of mine.
The trial and conviction of D. Chauvin will create a fall guy, an example in one person of a theatre of sadism that attacks, crushes and maims people like your buddy George, and your mom Karen. We will hear all about the “police officer”. Superb deflection. There are a cast of thousands of supporting actors and crew (roll the titles) inside and outside the system as a whole, not limited only to police mind you:
The officers standing to the side.
”Law and Order” actors, producers, writers, crew.
The radio dispatch agent.
”Cops” cast, producers, writers, crew.
The 911 call agent.
And a word from our sponsors:
Wal-Mart
We’ve created a system that doesn’t protect us. We need protection from our own system.
When are the rest of the accomplices going on trial, I ask myself.
And as Juvenal wrote in poetry two thousand years ago, and I think of it today, with this trial: “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes” or “Who watches the guardians”
Apparently, nobody.
