Good morning everyone and welcome to Wednesday’s Morning Open Thread.
Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.
I’ve come to think of this post as one where you come for the music and stay for the conversation—so feel free to drop a note.

Only Wednesday, sure, but that’s about halfway done with the week for me—and I will admit that the weekend can’t come too early in my book. The daily rains are slowing things down on some of our construction sites, but we have enough sheltered work to shift crews around and keep moving forward. I’ve been reading more lately (probably since the days are longer, but who knows) and remembering the joys of spending a couple hours just buried in a book and forgetting the rest of the world. Thing is, that world is still there when the book’s done.
I will need to take a few days off this month to go out and see a friend in another state that is going through some tough times and needs a bit of love from his friends. I talked with him last night (his 17-month-old son suffered a head injury, he lost a big client, is having panic attacks, and is worried about his mental health); his son sounds like he will make a full recovery, the client thing is not the end of the world as it turns out, but the anxiety and darkness scares me a bit—so I’m going to take a long weekend and fly out to spend a day with him.
Other than that, things are moving along at a pace and I’m thinking that life is pretty damned good no matter what the headlines say. Cheers and I hope everyone has a lovely day.
