All done! Everything looks great!

Hi all,

We’re almost done with fixes related to the Great Daily Kos Outage of 2023. In short, Amazon Web Services pulled support for a database table setting, breaking much of the internet. It took over a day to figure out what was happening and clean up the mess.

We had a short planned outage yesterday to reinstate posting and commenting capabilities. But that was a very targeted, narrow effort, focused on what was most essential to get the site back up.

Now we need to apply those database fixes to the rest of the site. It is a much bigger job than yesterday’s effort.

As such, the site will go down at 11 PM ET tonight for approximately four hours. Once finished, we should be done with the mess and can move forward without fear of further crashes and downtime.

If you have story/diary drafts, make sure you save them before that time.

I truly appreciate your patience throughout this entire ordeal. Thank you.
