Welcome to members of the Daily Kos Sangha* and all interested visitors who happen by.
Each of us has our own path; we come here by way of many different traditions, and of no particular tradition. While the language we use may differ depending on the traditions, teachers, practices, and teachings that have shaped our journeys, we find in common, generally, a search for who we truly are, our true nature, and to bring the peace and compassion born of that search into the greater world of which we area part. If you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do, as this space is for you.
The Germanic celebration of Ostara is thought to be the origin of the Christian Easter observance. Ostara is the festival of the Spring Equinox. It is a time to celebrate the moment we move between the darkness of winter into the light of summer. It is a time for the animal kingdom to make new babies, for planting, and for the seeds to sprout, It is a time of fertility and rebirth. It is no accident the egg became a symbol of both Easter and Ostara.
The Christian religion chose this magical time to celebrate the resurrection of Christ from the pain of torture and execution on a Roman cross. Legend has it that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter morning two thousand years ago.
Unfortunately, all too many Christians worship the unresurrected Jesus, not the one who was reborn on Easter morning, and who preached love, acceptance, and giving of oneself.
Here is a spring equinox sermon and celebration from Uquilla, of the Havasupai Tribe, who lives at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. From the tribal webpage:
For over 1,000 years the remote village of Supai, Arizona, located eight miles hike below the rim of the Grand Canyon, has been home to the Havasu Baaja, People of the Blue Green Waters, or as they are known today, the Havasupai Tribe.
This is music for meditation on the miracle of springtime and reawakening from the long winter night. The world changes from the greys, black, and brown of dormant trees into green and an explosion of colors as flowers bloom in all quadrants.

Peace this day, and every day.
Take this time to sit, and quietly take in your surroundings in a comfortable place. Do not dwell on thoughts that enter your mind for long, as the need to empty the mind while sitting is what is to be realized, all the while concentrating on your breath: Breath in, and exhale out, and truly realize the moment of this time that is just for you, it is your place, your time, you are at home.
