A director of communications at a non-denominational church in San Antonio, Texas was terminated after her ranting about church members spending too much time on Black History Month & Black Lives Matter became public. Senior Pastors Randy and Kelli Ayres of Cross Mountain Church fired Ashley Ayres, their daughter-in-law, after she posted a not-using-racist-words-but-still racist video about how much time was being taken up at Sunday services by church members concerned about social justice.
This shining example of white privilege posted such gems as:
“So if I post three times this week about Black History Month, which is more than I post about anything, people are going to be so annoyed. Like, nobody freaking cares.”
… I’m not, like, racist. I know I’m not racist. But having the Black people on our staff that have milked being Black, and Black Lives Matter, and we need to put Black people on stage, and we need to acknowledge Black people, and we need Martin Luther King Day off because we’re Black, and if you get Columbus Day off, and, like, just all of that, it’s, like, I’m not racist but when you take advantage of being Black because you’re the only Black staff member, or the first Black staff member, it just drives me insane because our church is 99% white.
Randy and Kelli have been busy doing damage control after the video was posted on social media. They issued a public apology for the bad choice in wives their son made and promised to confront the problem directly in the family. They went silent on details about the church staff, which appeared to be mostly white for the most part according to the article — black staff members were specifically mentioned by Ms. Snowflake however — and deleted the portion of the webpage that listed them. How the 99% of the members of the church who are white (In San Antonio, Texas??) felt about the video and firing wasn’t mentioned in the article. I wonder how today’s services went?
I guess she’s gonna have to sit on God’s Group W Bench when she passes on.
