Joe Biden had a heated exchange with a construction worker who accused him of trying to take Americans' guns away during a campaign stop in Michigan, one of six states holding primaries on Tuesday. [...]
Biden replied: "You're full of sh**." [...]
The man repeated his accusation that Biden was "trying to take our guns," and Biden pushed back. "I did not say that. I did not say that."
After the worker told him that he had made the remark in "a viral video," the former vice president replied that "it's a viral video like the other ones they're putting out that are simply a lie."
"This is not OK, alright?" the man said, to which Biden replied, "Don't tell me that, pal, or I'm going to go outside with you, man."
"You're working for me, man!" the worker said.
"I'm not working for you," Biden said. "Don't be such a horse's ass." — www.cbsnews.com/…
Note: CBS issued a correction that states:
Editor's note: An earlier version of this article quoted Biden as saying, "Don't tell me that, pal, or I'm going to go out and slap you in the face." An alternate angle of the interaction shows Biden instead said, "I'm going to go outside with you, man."
NBC news still has a story up that says Biden threatened to slap the voter.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but to my knowledge not even Trump has threatened to take a voter “outside”
There’s a reason Biden’s prior presidential campaigns ended ignominiously. He’s an immensely risky candidate to put up in the general election. As I said earlier this week, the moderate-conservative Democratic establishment has made an enormous mistake by solidifying around Biden.
This is a pretty simple exchange with a voter and it goes off the rails massively. His staff walks him away from the exchange, and other workers drag the man off.
Now, put Biden up on a stage against Donald Trump who will work relentlessly to get him angry. What do you think will happen? Staff members won’t be able to run to the stage to stop Biden.
Newsweek describes the altercation:
"You are actively trying to infringe our Second Amendment right and take away our guns," the man says as the two stand in the middle of a swarm of hard hat-wearing workers. "You're full of sh*t," Biden responds, staring directly at him for several seconds. Biden and the man briefly went back and forth about the difference between a semi-automatic weapon, a "machine gun" and what Biden repeatedly described as an "AR-14." Biden also pushed back against the man's claims that an unidentified "viral video" he'd seen on the internet depicts him declaring opposition to gun rights.
"I support the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment, just like right now if you yell 'fire' that's not free speech," Biden says, before listing several firearms he owns including a 12-gauge shotgun. "Guess what? You're not allowed to own any weapons. I'm not taking your gun away at all." — www.newsweek.com/...
