During the House committee hearings with Robert Mueller yesterday, one Republican after another lined up to attack the former two-term FBI director, who served under both Republican and Democratic administrations. They also rattled off absolutely false conspiracy theories that Mueller was not able to refute due to the structure of the hearings and the lack of time, and even to his lack of interest in replying to nonsense.
Lots of observers noted that the Republican questions sounded familiar, and sure enough, many or most of them came directly from Sean Hannity at Fox News. Jordan Uhl of Media Matters for America pulled together a supercut of Hannity’s show right next to questions from Republican members of the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees. You really have to see this to believe it.
There you have it. I’m only surprised someone didn’t bring up Seth Rich or another wacky, hurtful conspiracy promoted by Sean Hannity.
The conservative network operates essentially as a Republican super PAC. Their goals, their missions, even some of their employees are identical. Roughly 20 people from Fox News have left the network to work directly for the Trump administration. Some high-profile Trump administration officials, such as Hope Hicks, left and went directly to Fox News for employment. It’s a revolving door that is ridiculously unethical.
