Received this e-mail today from actress Debra Messing in support of Governor Maggie Hassan’s (D. NH) U.S. Senate campaign:
I'm Debra Messing, an actor and progressive advocate, and recently I was introduced to Governor Maggie Hassan at the Democratic National Convention's Women's Caucus in Philadelphia. She's fought to protect women's health care rights, ensure LGBTQ equality, and make college more affordable in New Hampshire — now she's running for the U.S. Senate.
Her race is one of the closest and most important in the country, because the outcome will almost certainly decide control of the Senate and the future of the Supreme Court. Right now, right-wing corporate special interests are spending MILLIONS to stop Maggie, and she needs our help. If we're going to flip the Senate, secure the Court, and make real progress, she needs you to give $3 or more now.
I'm struck by Maggie's powerful guiding principle — that the more people we bring in from the margins, the more successful we are as a country. It's a simple, inspiring thought that we need to see more of in government.
But that won't happen if we don't act. Washington Republicans are doing everything they can to stop her, so it's up to you and me to help Maggie fight back. If you're with me, please donate $3 today to elect Maggie, take back the Senate, and get our country working again to do the greatest good.
Thanks,
Debra
P.S. — Isn't this photo from the DNC Women's Caucus fun? I can't wait to be able to call Maggie the next Senator from New Hampshire, but her race is going to be a tough one — we can't take anything for granted. Will you donate $3 or whatever you can to her campaign so we can make sure she gets over the finish line?
