It should be painfully obvious by now to any one truly paying attention that GOP Presidential Candidate Donald John Trump Sr. is a hopelessly deluded conspiracy theorist. And that is why they love him, that is why he's surging in the polls. He thinks and speaks just like a know-nothing belly scratching member of the Tea Party. Only he's a Billionaire Belly Scratcher. That is why he just might ultimately win the GOP Nomination.
He still to this very day, remains a birther.
Asked whether he thought Obama was born in the U.S., Trump responded: “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I don’t know why he wouldn’t release his records.”
In the interview, Trump also claimed that Hillary Clinton and John McCain were both birthers, and mentioned how he got Obama to release “something.”
The President's campaign had already released the standard birth certificate form way back in 2008
that was perfectly valid. The fact is the Obama himself didn't have a copy of the "long form" because it's usually kept among state records and Hawaii has a
very strict personal records law that prevented even the Democratic Governor of
releasing it on his own.
In 2011, because people like Trump kept claiming there "must be something wrong" with his long form certificate, or that it didn't exist, the President sent his attorneys to Hawaii to retrieve this.
Yet Trump remained undeterred.
“Do you know that Hillary Clinton was a birther? She wanted those records and fought like hell. People forgot. You know that John McCain was a birther, wanted those records. They couldn’t get the records. Hillary failed. John McCain failed,” he said.
“Trump was able to get something. I don’t know what the hell it was, but it doesn’t matter. Because I’m off that subject. I’m about jobs, I’m about the military, I’m about doing the right thing for this country,” he added.
Do you know that Hillary Clinton and John McCain both accepted that the short form certificate was valid in 2008. Trump didn't. He still hasn't.
Also when it's comes to John McCain, Trump actually did say that he "was NOT... a War Hero", before he said that he was.
Continued over the flip.
If he wins, Trump would indeed be our first full-on Asshole President.
Let's be honest here, this is what he said. [Jon plays the clip multiple times and it's very clear.]
Trump: He's not..... a War Hero.
Moderator: He's a War Hero.
Trump: He's a War Hero... He's a 'War Hero' because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured, I hate to tell ya, ok? He's a "War Hero", perhaps, presumably.
Then when talking to the Today Show.
Trump: Why did Savannah start off by saying I said that he was "not a War Hero"? I never said that. I said he was a War Hero.
No, you really didn't. Pal. You said he wasn't, then admitted that he was "presumably" one grudgingly, sarcastically and only because "he was captured". Never mind the fact that after he was selected for early release because he was the son of a prominent Admiral he instead chose to
stay and continued to be tortured until all of his fellow POW's were released to.
And yet Matt Lauer couldn't just go back and play the clip for some reason. And neither could CNN. Trump has taken this moment to browbeat the media claiming they're dishonest in reporting when the fact is they're just lazy.
And apparently cowardly.
The issue isn't really what Don really thinks about anything, it's his lack of understanding and comprehension on even simple issues. In his first foot-in-mouth moment he claimed that "Mexico was sending rapists" to America, but the report he used as he source doesn't say that. "Rapist" were coming to America, 80% of the women and young girls who were migrating into Mexico as they crossed the Guatemalan border were tricked and forced into trading sex to pay for transportation through the country. It's a sexual slave trade of human trafficking, not the Mexican government sending Rapists to the U.S.
On the border being "totally open" he is again, flat wrong. Under President Obama the rate of both indictions of those attempting to enter the U.S. without documentation and those being returned to their original country for illegal entry have been at record highs.
The fact is that the Border Patrol and ICE are only budgeted for 400,000 removals and they've actually been exceeding that number. In fact our migration rate from Mexico has actually been decreasing and has been eclipsed by other migrants coming from Central America.
Also, a new shift in migration patterns emerged over the last two years: more Central American immigrants and unaccompanied children crossing the border. These trends have led to an increase in apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border. On the other hand, the number of Mexican immigrants apprehended at the border and the interior has continued to decline from a high of 1.1 million in 2005 to 425,000 in 2013.
Trumps claim that there are really "34 Million" illegal immigrants is just another example of his sadly buying into the
right-wing conspiracy theory.
"You have anywhere from 11 to 34 million illegal immigrants," he told Cooper. "I used to hear 11, now I hear 34 million!"
...
So where did Trump's 34 million come from? Our guess is that he picked up on a rumor that spread through some far-right sites late last year that President Obama planned to issue 34 million green cards. That figure, as Snopes pointed out, derives from a request from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for a vendor that could handle the production of millions of green cards -- up to 34 million of them eventually. Potentially.
Snopes. He's spouting BS that has already been debunked by
Snopes. Oy vey.
On the VA issue as well, he talks about how Veterans are coming to him crying about the care, but the fact is the fact is that the VA provides some of the best health care into country.
Yet here's a curious fact that few conservatives or liberals know. Who do you think receives higher-quality health care. Medicare patients who are free to pick their own doctors and specialists? Or aging veterans stuck in those presumably filthy VA hospitals with their antiquated equipment, uncaring administrators, and incompetent staff? An answer came in 2003, when the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine published a study that compared veterans health facilities on 11 measures of quality with fee-for-service Medicare. On all 11 measures, the quality of care in veterans facilities proved to be "significantly better."
The problem they have faced has been a backlog that actually goes back 20 years and has been largely stretched far beyond capacity by our going into
two simultaneous wars. The White House made this a top priority, including forming
a Working Group to analyze and address the problem but it is rather difficult when Congress can't pass a budget and they remain
under sequestration with little ability to move money around to where it's needed. Still,
they've made improvements despite continued problems and criticism.
[President Obama] addressed persisting problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs, which has been under intense scrutiny for more than a year over long waitlists and other shortcomings in the VA health system. Last week, the VA said it is unable to count how many veterans died while waiting to sign up for health care, and said it may have to close some hospitals if Congress does not address a $2.5 billion shortfall.
Obama said that while significant progress has been made at the troubled agency, "We've got to acknowledge our work is not done. We still have a big challenge" to keep up with the surge in veterans seeking care.
"We're not going to let up," he promised.
When you listen to our actual President speak, calmly, clearly and with detailed understanding regarding the loss our military has suffered in Chattanooga describing and listing the lives of each of the victims in detail, or how he addresses the hard realities in the Diplomatically reached Nuclear Deal with Iran, or as he spoke frankly about the challenges that continue to face the VA -- he's shows a quiet competence that Trump could never achieve.
I mean anyone who is so thin-skinned to criticism that he has to retaliate by releasing the personal cell phone number of a sitting U.S. Senator -- does not belong in the White House.
After Graham called Trump a “jackass” on Monday for insulting Sen. John McCain’s war record, Trump appeared at an event in Bluffton on Tuesday and almost immediately told the crowd that their senator was a “stiff” and an “idiot.”
CBS News also confirmed that a cell phone number that Trump gave out on stage during the event belonged to Sen. Graham.
The fact is that someone like Trump can't get
any of his facts right. He's wrong on everything. And worse, he's
arrogant and belligerant about being wrong.
Just like the Tea Party.
And that exactly why he's the perfect guy for the GOP Base. He's just as Full of Shit as they are.
