You have thirty seconds - or, one hour - to read the description of WYFP.
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
Okay, time's up.
When I was younger I wanted time to go by faster. I couldn't wait for a long school day to end, for the school year to end, a boring event to end, or for me to grow up and become an adult.
Now? Well, my perspective has changed.
This month marks ten years since I graduated from high school - and five years since I got my bachelor's degree. Heck, I can't believe it's been six and a half years since we elected Khalid Sheikh bin Hussein bin Soetoro bin Obumbum.
And where has this year gone????? A few months ago I was whining about how cold it was. Soon I'll be complaining about how hot it is.
So my main FP is that time is flying faster than an F16. There are other FPs related to that:
- My parents are getting older.
- So are my dogs; Lucy is about ten human years old and doesn't get around as much as she used to, while Phoebe isn't as rambunctious as before.
- I only have so much time before I have to make some big decisions about my future.
Several years ago, a congressman said that if he only had five years to live, he'd spend those years as a member of Congress, because "those were some of the longest years of my life" (paraphrasing). Not a bad idea, except that I'm in one of the reddest congressional districts in Michigan.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying being with the ones I love while I still can.
(PS: "Tempus fugit" = "Time flies.")
