We're now all waiting to see Hillary Clinton unveil her game changing vision for the 2016 election. Recently her tributes to Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren suggest she's open to ditching the B.S. "third way" nonsense and right wing corporate ass kissing that dominated her 2008 campaign.
But we need the final nail in the coffin of that faux-moderate Hillary Clinton, cast in the mold of moldy Bill Clinton's antiquated late 1990s nonsense. That performance art idiocy was an embarrassing Joe Lieberman-esque dance for a head pat from David Brooks, Ross Douthat, and the rest of the jibbering ninnies that defined Suit-and-Tie pseudo-intellectual Tom Friedman Groupthink. Fuck all of them.
Hillary has to know she must reinvent as a visionary. A visionary candidacy that must have thematic echoes with the transformative aspirations of the Barack Obama presidency.
Today, a major event happened which I believe offers Hillary that opportunity: Elon Musk's Telsa Energy.
This is the key to victory in 2016. Follow me below the squiggle to explain.
Elon Musk is the emodiment of Ayn Rand right wing Horatio Alger market system fantasy. By-his-bootstaps visionary success into economic powerhouse.
Where Musk differs from the right wing cult is that he reveals what a fraud they've always been.
The right wing cult movement has never been about meritocracy. They have never been about self-created wealth and billionaires emerging from fulfilling market need, all the Adam Smith classical economics models they claim to care about and pay lip service to but actually terrifies them.
The right wing believes in the preservation of the economic elites rooted in generational traditions -- aka the pre-Civil War Anglo-WASP Brahmin wealth structure that spent centuries building up their wealth by exploiting slaves, Chinese laborers, stealing land from the Native Americans, and building Robber Baron exploitation factories.
This is what the right wing has always supported.
Not the "Free market." That's a cartoon fantasy they sell to the rubes. A lottery ticket dream built on a rigged system that sells the nonsense that "You too can be a billionaire!"
But the right wing has NEVER wanted economic mobility. Not for the freed slaves. Not for the immigrant classes of Jews, Irish, and Italians a century ago. And certainly not for Latinos today.
So here comes Jewish Elon Musk with his real visionary approach to economics.
A visionary belief that profit and social dedication can be part of the same thing. (Try telling that argument to the Koch Brothers, the Bushes, the Waltons, or any of the other WASP elite dynasties)
Musk crashes their party and builds amazing companies from scratch. Tesla. Space-X.
The Cheneys and the Halliburtons have to sit and watch as a new guy demonstrates a REAL market system by shoving their corrupt, rigged, polluting behemoth of good-ole-boy back room cigar smoking Ivy League secret clubs up their hypocritical fucking asses.
So today Musk unveils Tesla Energy. For those who haven't heard, go here: http://www.theverge.com/...
Or here:
http://www.reuters.com/...
Home batteries meant to deliver clean energy to every home.
Musk is a REAL entrepeneur, the kind that will use the market system to create both economic wealth and a better future.
Here's where Hillary Clinton can step in.
Clinton should immediately embrace and support Tesla as an example of 21st Century market system success molded in the way her administration will support. Tesla is both socially aware AND economically driven. Hillary should use Tesla and Musk as the goal for her entire economic philosophy. She should indict the lack of responsibility by Walmart, by Halliburton, by the Koch Brothers as a disgrace to the very idea of free markets and the American way of life.
This fucks the republicans by shifting the debate away from their fake GOVERNMENT-EVIL/MARKET-GOOD binary that they're always pimping like some Cold War version of that old board game, Stratego.
Theirs is a bankrupt and fraudulent argument. The "government" is not one thing. The "market" is not one thing. Koch dynasties IS a form of government. The mega-corporate powers that be are now all running their own shadow governments (relying on welfare, rigging environmental laws, etc.)
If Hilary is to be the transformational candidate I think that she is capable of being, here's her entrance point: DIVIDE THE MARKET SYSTEM INTO GOOD AND BAD.
Shift the debate away from Government/Market to Good-Market/Bad-Market.
Make it about which corporations are good for America and which are shitting (fracking) in your backyard, dumping their waste in your water, and paying your friends slave wages so they can route their money to the Cayman Islands.
The core of Hillary's message: Free Market 2.0.
Use the government to stimulate and support a new economy dedicated to and supporting the social contract as much as individual profit.
This is not "socialism."
This is responsible free market democracy.
CostCo announced 15 an hour minimum wage? That guy in Seattle paying his lowest empoyees 70k a year?
Hillary should unveil a system that rewards the responsible corporations while taxing and regulating the shit out of the corrupt, pollution spewing legacies of the gas/oil age.
Suddenly Hillary is on free-market OFFENSE. She is not simply advocating old Democratic policies about taxation and safety net funding (which are vitally important, just not inspiring in a political debate). She is offering a VISION Of a future American economy rooted in products that make the world a better place.
