As many of you know Gravis Polling, which is run by Doug Kaplan, has been one of the polling outfits leading the narrative that President Obama is not doing well in polling numbers.
Real Clear Politics have been including them in its aggregate as has Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight.
The blog Democratic Underground has been investigating and their latest post is a stunner.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Ultimately, we believe that "Gravis Marketing" is the last of a long line of shady enterprises pursued by Doug Kaplan and a merry band of small-time hustlers, a band marked by the sketchy personal pasts of its individual members and a constant pursuit of the fast, and, almost invariably, dishonest buck.
We believe that the evidence below will amply illustrate the conjecture above.
Take note that although they have found no clear link between Gravis and the Republican Party they have found enough evidence to make their polling extremely suspect. Certainly there is clear reason to believe that this outfit should in no way have been taken seriously Nationally in such an important election.
The information at the link and the pictures (including mugshots) shown are absolutely gobsmacking.
Edit to add a link to a post which gives a diagram of some of Gravis' numbers which are shown to be impossible.
Also, I recall Hopefruit made a comment about their polling of the AA community showed some ridiculous numbers. Will try to find.
The post is far too long to try and condense, any interested parties will need to go to the link.
Nate Silver and RCP should at least take a look.
