It appears that Scott Walker is now the first governor to survive a recall election. After all our hard work and long hours in the freezing cold, after a million signatures filed for his recall, he is still in office. Needless to say, this is a discouraging result. I would much rather have woken up tomorrow morning to a new governor, a new Majority Leader, and a new hope for the future.
However, we cannot let one election stop us. We cannot be ashamed of forcing Scott Walker to answer before the voters for what he has done, even if the verdict is not what we wanted it to be. We must not apologize for the time we have spent protesting all the harm that Walker has visited upon our great state. We've got to take our lumps, spend a few days or weeks dealing with the nastiness that will be targeted towards us, and continue on.
Many on this site have been harsh in their criticisms of Democrats who refuse to stand up to the right-wing and fight. For better or for worse, and even now I believe it is for better, we refused to take Scott Walker's attacks lying down. Now is not the time to give up.
