Heh, and I thought that meant sometime soon. And I thought that meant sometime within the first year he took office, I can't remember exactly why I thought that, something I heard somewhere I guess. But now I know! According to the New York Times President Obama has clarified exactly what was meant
However, the White House said Obama remained committed to eventually closing the prison at Guantanamo, at some point.
Can't ask for fairer than that I guess. And we will continue to hold people indefinitely without trial-because as I've been repeatedly told, "He is a Constitutional Scholar".
Now, I'm a reasonable kind of guy, at least I like to think that I am, and I know that there are pressures on President Obama-some of the Republicans don't like a few of the things he's done and he can't be bi-partisan without their help, but honestly I fear the terrorists less than I fear the notion that the US government can just lock me up and throw away the key-on foreign soil no less-and there is nothing that I or anyone else can do about it.
I've been disappointed in President Obama for a long time, but this passes mere disappointment and gets into sickening territory. It was wrong, criminal, and unconstitutional when GWB did it and its the same with the current president. I hope that some day justice is done to the rulers of this country-and I hope that they get a real trial, not some fake sham trial with "evidence" elicited by torture being produced.
We could have elected whatever Democrat we chose in 2008, to our shame we chose to elect a person that strips people of their fundamental rights.
