Barack Obama received endorsements by three distinguished members of the Guardians of Capital... former chairmen of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
They are:
William Donaldson - appointed by Bush Sr.
Arthur Levitt - appointed by Clinton
David Ruder - appointed by Reagan
and...
Special Bonus Endorsement! Paul Volker, former Federal Reserve Chair!
Whew!!!
In the statement they praised Obama's "reasoned approach" in analyzing "the current financial crisis and the need for balanced regulatory reform." "We believe that such a constructive approach can be extended broadly in the economic area as well as elsewhere," they said.
To be honest, I'm a little disappointed... this dims my hopes for a truly progressive Obama administration.
On the other hand, it soothes my nagging fear that the Lords of Wall Street are planning to take Obama down with a "Dean Scream" incident and usher their handmaiden into the White House at the last minute.
