A few folks on my Facebook feed have been sharing the latest opinion piece by Peter Daou over at Blue Nation Review, titled:
INDISPUTABLE: Bernie Is the Establishment, Hillary and Planned Parenthood are the Anti-Establishment
After appreciating the author for giving me such a hearty laugh to start my day, I clicked on his name and saw a number of strongly pro-Hillary, anti-Bernie essays. It seemed a bit odd to me, as I recall coming across some fairly favorable (or at least neutral) coverage of Bernie’s campaign from BNR awhile back and not a ton of opinion pieces.
As it turns out, BNR was bought in December by none other than David Brock, head of Media Matters and the pro-Clinton Super PAC Correct The Record. Peter Daou, himself a longtime paid consultant to both Clintons, is now CEO of BNR’s new parent company True Blue Media.
Knowing that BNR was bought in December, the sudden and drastic change in editorial tone regarding Bernie is pretty stark. Take a look here. It’s like night and day.
In Brock’s statement to HuffPo when he bought BNR, he said that “The need for alternative sources of information and independent reporting has never been greater.”
It appears that need remains.
